How to write the research proposal

Research Proposal

All of us are faced with the situation of writing a research proposal. It is very important skill. First, it gives the idea of the scope of the project. Secondly, it is also one of the first steps of the process of writing a research paper. This is stepping stone for us to complete the work. Now, again all of us have faced the situation some time or the other.

There are two problems that are faced by us in the writing of the dissertation research proposal. They are

· The use of the appropriate data in the proposal.

· The brevity of the words (in simpler terms, are you able to convince that the research is worth doing?)

Keeping all of these factors in mind, I have designed a plausible methodology that can be of use to you. Simple answer (WHY, HOW, WHAT AND WHEN)

The WHY answers the questions like why are you doing this in the first place. The answer should be in the form of the research background/reasons of selection in the dissertation research proposal. The HOW is answered by the research methodology and data collection techniques. The WHAT is answered by the research objectives and the outcomes. The WHEN is one of the most poignant parts of the research that is left out by the average Joe? It is always suggested to use any kind of the timeline, like the Gantt chart or a timescale of the composition.

Being a writer and having written a number of the proposal myself, please ensure that the basics like the 4W’s are answered. The typical parts of the research proposal are

  • Title
  • The Aims and Objectives
  • The Research Background
  • Literature Review
  • Research Methodology
  • The Outcomes
  • Conclusion
  • Recommendations( if asked)
  • The Timescale (as for example Gantt chart).
