Project Proposal Title:

“Investigate the role of Infrastructure in the successful running of e-business” ( A
Case study on Libyan e-business based Companies).

Abstract / Summary:

Electronic business is known as e-business. This business runs on the basis of
communication technology and application information (ICT) to maintain the links
between groups, individuals of the business with the external activities. It provides
satisfaction to the customers by meeting their needs by maintaining the close
relationship between the partners and suppliers. Whole process in e-business are
based upon value chain like handling customer service, supply chain management,
electronic purchasing. The special software of e-business provides inter and intra firm
business processes.
Infrastructure plays an important role for a successful e-business, it is more than
technology. The frequency of response from the customers, to the need of business
requirements and competitive nature of global marketplace depends upon
infrastructure. It is a process of management of skilled person, strategy, tool and
techniques and also a dynamic interaction.

The elements of technical infrastructure are made up of internet, extranet, intranet,
software, hardware, internet and server.
E-Business can be sub-divided into different categories such as E-Commerce,
E-Collaboration and E-Procurement.
E-collabration maintains the relationship between the customer and service provider
by interrelating the activities and decisions.
E-procurement deals with the procedure for the supply of material like payment,
E-commerce is help to meet with the customer requirements by understanding and
responding the need of customer with the help of internet.
The main objective behind this study is to investigate the essential infrastructure
required to run an e-business. The infrastructure include all the facilities necessary
such as the computers, servers, networks, internet, software, hardware, and so on.
The study will be conducted for a sample of e-businesses in Libya using questionnaire
and interviews to collect quantitative and qualitative primary data. However,
secondary data will also be collected from other sources that are involved in ebusiness,
and as well the previous studies and literature will be reviewed to provide
background and previous findings about this issue.
The data collected will be subject to statistical analysis, where the findings of the
study will be extracted to provide some recommendations.

  1. To acquire the understanding of e-business and its modules.
  2. To identify different types of infrastructure used in e-business.
  3. To understand the importance of infrastructure in the success of e-business
    with case study of Libyan companies such as Libyana.
  4. To identify the challenges or implications in the implementation of the
    infrastructure in e-business.
  5. To provide recommendations to overcome the barriers in e-business model.
Project Outcomes/ Deliverables:

 It will provide a complete report on infrastructure required for a successful ebusiness.
 The report will provide valuable recommendations on the infrastructure which
is necessary for e-business.
 This project report will help in tackling the issues related with the
implementation of infrastructure in e-business.
 The report will provide information of infrastructure with respect to Libya.

Why are you interested in the project?

E-business is very popular now a day. It helps the customer to minimise their time of
shopping, saving their money. Most of the people are doing their shopping, booking
tickets, and using banking service, entertaining themselves by sitting in homes with
the use of internet by visiting their required website. Infrastructure is playing
important role for their name and fame and helping them to get popularity.
As a student of IT and residential of Libya e- business always been my area of interest
and this is the best topic to know how the infrastructure is important for the success of

What research methods do you intend to use and why?

I will use historical approach in which I will collect the data from the past resources
which contain the information regarding role of infrastructure in success of e-business.
The entire information will provide me the basic knowledge about
In the graphic approach I will start with the questionnaire. It will provide me the
present scenario and status of infrastructure for the success of e-business.
Along with this I will go for the case studies which are related with the role of
infrastructure for the success of e-business. How it is important and helpful for the
success of e-business. It will provide me the other work done and factors affecting the
infrastructure which can be used for further research as base.

What primary and/or secondary data sources do you intend to use?

Data collection can be done from 2 sources which are primary data source and
secondary data sources. For this research I will use both sources.
The collection of primary data is done mostly form website and customer who are
using the e-business for their needs. The information can also be collected from the
employees of the companies/customers of e-business based companies through mailed
questionnaire or by telephonic interviews about the role of infrastructure for ebusiness.
After this I will try to find out the research questions, relevant material from
the books, collection and analysis of data and then I will start report writing.
The secondary data can be collected form journal, newspapers, books, magazines
which contain the information regarding role of infrastructure to run e-business.
